Subclauses (f) and (h) of Clause 16 of CentralNic's Terms and Conditions state that CentralNic may cancel the registration or suspend registration of a domain name:
(f) if CentralNic believes that the domain name was registered for use in a "phishing" attack or other illegal activity of any kind.
(g) if inaccurate or false contact details are provided.
Further to these conditions, CentralNic operates the following policy regarding suspected "phishing" domain names:
If CentralNic has a reasonable suspicion that a domain name registered at CentralNic is being used for phishing, sale of counterfeit goods, hosting of illegal content, or otherwise being used for any illegal activity, it will place the domain name on "Server Hold" and optionally under a Registry Lock. This may occur as a result of an abuse report, or because the domain name appeared on a list of abusive domain names.
CentralNic may then notify the current registrar for the domain name and ask them to investigate the registration of the domain.
If the registrar provides evidence that refutes the abuse report, or positive evidence that the registration was not in "bad faith", CentralNic will unlock the domain name and place it on the "Live" status.
If no confirmation is evidenced, or the registrars agrees that the domain name was registered in "bad faith", the domain name will be placed onto "Pending Deletion" and will be fully deleted from the database after 45 days. Once deleted, it will be reserved and cannot be re-registered.
If you have any comments or questions regarding these rules, CentralNic is happy to receive them. Please use the contact page to get in touch.
